Our Favorite Destinations on Tupper Lake
A. Rock Bay Camps
- Blue Jay Campsite. This is a tradition for the little ones. Has to be the best little candy store in the North Country with prices
from the 1970's. Canoe, kayak, motorboat or even walk over with a few bucks and the kids are sure to leave with a handful
of joy. The little Beausoleil Boys prefer to make it a Monday, Wednesday and Friday tradition.
- Bog River Falls. Amazing from the lake view or by the car. Car access is on the Horsehoe Lake Road. Make a right out of
camp and you can't miss it. Great place for the older kids to slide down the rocks on one of the upper tributaries. The falls
itself is obviously very treacherous and water shoes are recommended. I would only recommend sliding if you are following
the lead of other experienced visitors.
- Black Point Lean-to. This is the favorite Hotdogs and Marshmallows' cooking site.
Secluded and extremely beautiful with a great lean-to and fire pit.
- Bridge Brook Dam. What a place to beach a boat and explore. Miles of hiking trails and just a beautiful tributary to the lake.
- Watch Island. This is just the coolest little island with an enormous slide on the back side. Great place to canoe in the
entire area with many shallow watered coves.
- The bluffs. WOW, you need to look at the pictures to believe this one. Jump at your own risk.!
- Indian Point Lean-to is located right near The Bluffs(#6) along the Raquette River Flow into town. Just another neat place to
park a boat and camp, have a fire or just explore.
- Raquette Pond is located in the center of Downtown Tupper Lake. A great boat ride through the Raquette River Channel from Tupper Lake. There is a Public Boad Dock for your use. The little ones always like to park the boat at the dock and the quick
walk to McDonalds for a bite to eat.
- Raquette River Outflow is the final destination of all the water that has entered Tupper Lake. The start of the outflow can be
seen by the large railroad tressel from The Adirondack Railroad.
- Simond Pond is another gorgeous body of water attached to Tupper Lake. Just a short boat ride from Rock Bay Camps
North along the shoreline will take you under the route 30 bridge and into Simond Pond.
- Raquette River inflow Is a weeks adventure in itself. This is a wilderness explorers dream come true. If you have two days a
pile of strength and dertermination you can canoe from Long Lake right to the dock at Rock Bay Camps. With a small boat or
personal watercraft you can travel all the way up the river past Axton landing, trembles Lean-to to the base of Raquette Falls
to name just a few destinations. There are many camping sites on the way to stop and cook hotdogs or eat a bagged lunch.
- Loews Dam canoe access to Loews lake. Loews Dam can be reached taking the Horseshoe Lake Road over the Bog River
Falls Bridge to the end of the road. This is an old dam that was built as a hydroelectric dam to power the American Legion Mountain Camp on Tupper Lake. A beautiful place to walk and explore or bring a canoe and go on an adventure.
- The Tupper Lake Country Club 18 hole golf course. “This golf course is the best kept secret in the region. Play golf without
the pressure playing on a packed golf course. Often time you and your buddies will have no one behind or in front of you for several holes, reasonably priced, great bar and restaurant only five minutes from the camp. Spectacular views of the
Adirondack region.
- Big Tupper Ski Slope. Just an amazing family ski destination. Open again after 10 years in 2009, the tickets were only
$15.00 and there were no lines at all. Much better then you will imagine for that price. Just minutes away.
Hunting
With thousands of acres of State Land you can Hunt all day without seeing another hunter. Consult state maps for locations. Stay at the camps and hunt the acres of state land within minutes drive.
